How to Export Documents from DocuWare
A complete step-by-step guide to exporting your DocuWare documents to cloud storage — no scripting required.
Why Export Documents from DocuWare?
Organizations using DocuWare often need to export documents for migration, backup, compliance, or archival purposes. While DocuWare is excellent for daily document management, its built-in export capabilities are limited to small batches. dwXport bridges this gap by providing a self-service web tool that handles exports of up to 1,000,000 documents at a time.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Sign up at dwXport using your email address. We use passwordless authentication via magic links — no passwords to remember. Simply enter your email and click the link we send you.
Step 2: Connect Your DocuWare Instance
Enter your DocuWare instance URL (Cloud or On-Premise) and your credentials. dwXport establishes a secure connection to your DocuWare system. Your credentials are used only during the export session.
Step 3: Select File Cabinet and Documents
Choose the file cabinet you want to export from and select a search dialog. Optionally filter by date range to export specific time periods. dwXport shows you exactly how many documents match your selection.
Step 4: Configure Export Settings
Define your folder structure and filename patterns using DocuWare index fields. For example, organize files by year, department, or document type. Configure your S3 bucket, region, and credentials.
Step 5: Start the Export
Click start and monitor your export in real-time. dwXport shows document counts, bytes transferred, and estimated completion time. After the export finishes, review the detailed HTML report with presigned URLs for verification.
